Education

Senior Education major at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro

Experience

I am passionate about education done right. I enjoy helping those that need help on a daily basis. I'm an elementary education major, with a concentration in sociology and special education. I enjoy being around children and I love how they make everything in life so much more fun. When I was in high school I made a 1050 on my SAT that was in 2004, I also took Fast Forward classes my junior and senior year of high school, which are classes offered through UNCG that give actual college credits. When it comes to knowledge I am like a sponge and I soak up as much as possible. Teaching has also allowed me to learn in a more indirect way. I learn as I go, and I retain the information so much better. I'm taking all teaching licensure courses which are course designated to enhance a classroom. They have given me a broader outlook on different teaching methods and ways to make learning fun. I have had 2 internships one at Irving Park Elementary School where I taught in the second grade, and one at Sumner Elementary School where I taught in Kindergarten. In high school I was a Teacher Cadet for high school age children and I also liked that very much. In 2005 I took a course through Wake Forest University called Learn-to-Learn, which was a course that specialized in different study methods and techniques that are good for all types of learners. I am a youth group leader at Olivet Moravian Church in Winston-Salem North Carolina, and I absolutely love the children in my youth group. They keep me young and up to date with everything going on in their world. My favorite classes through out college has been Music and any History course. I also like English and I'd like to say that I specialize in Grammar. I would like to be a tutor because I think the experience would be good for me, and help me develop methods that work for my own classroom.
