I am in my thesis semester of an MA in English at Boston College, though I am now located in North Carolina. I specialize in British Literature and medical humanities. I hold a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I minored in American Sign Language and can communicate on an intermediate level.

Experience

I have tutored on a peer level for five years. I have two years of experience tutoring on a university level, and have worked as a TA for four semesters. I scored a 790 on the Critical Reading section of the SAT, and a 710 on the Writing segment. My goal in tutoring is to help students match what ends up on their page or their test to what is in their head. If they no longer need a tutor after we work together, I will have properly done my job.

Hobbies

I am cheerful, enthusiastic, and not afraid to be silly if it gets the message across. My explanation of the passive voice involves zombies - not because I want kids to like me (though that helps) but because linking learning to things that are interesting makes them stick. I am also highly driven and organized, and that comes across in the way I work.
